2. Public Transportation
Bus services to downtown Santiago are available every 15 minutes. The light-blue bus with a CENTROPUERTO sign stops in front of the passenger’s exit door. The bus fare is $1,400 chilean pesos (US$3) one way, and $2,500 (US$5) round trip.

The CentroPuerto bus reaches the underground station ‘Los Héroes’ and leaves to the Airport from the central square in Alameda, just in front of the Metro Los Héroes entrance. Also TURBUS buses offer the same service; the fare is a little bit higher.

From Alameda, the main avenue of Santiago, you will be able to reach your Hotel by underground. You can buy your ‘metro’ ticket at the tube station ticket booth (‘Boletería’) for approximately $570 (US$1.14) in valley hours and $630 (US$1.26) in peak hours. (It can be crowded at peak hours!!)

TRANSPORTATION IN SANTIAGO
1. Metro de SantiagoThe ‘METRO’ is by far the easiest way to move around Santiago. You can buy one ticket or the BIP’ slide card in all the Metro ticket tellers. The Hotel Intercontinental is located just 500 meters north to the entrance to the underground station Tobalaba. (See ‘Venue’)

At some hours of the day the Metro is so packed that you will experience a crowded ride in Santiago!.

Find the Metro plans and lines in www.metrosantiago.cl and go to ‘Muévase en el Metro’ to plan your Metro excursion.

2. Public Transportation
Santiago also provides public transportation networks in combination with the Metro de Santiago. To pay for bus ride you have to use the BIP’ slide card available in all the Metro stations and the Servipag points of pay offices paying $1,300 for the card plus a minimum payment of  $1.000 for metro trips.

For 120 minutes you can use the same combined fare for two bus trips and one Metro trip. The approximate value for one Metro ticket is $570 (or bus fare) and an additional $60 in peak hours for the Metro trip (values at 2011).

3. Taxi
We strongly recommend you to make use of the very reliable and safe Radio-Taxi services (Call a taxi by telephone). Every receptionist at the Hotel can call any Radio-taxi company for you, or at a restaurant, etc.

GETTING TO THE VENUE:
The Hotel  Intercontinental is located at Av. Vitacura 2885, Las Condes, is at walking distance from the main restaurants and, as are many of the recommended hotels of the attached list (See List).

The Hotel Intercontinental is 500 meters north of the underground station at line 1: Estación Tobalaba (please exit at Luis Thayer Ojeda Street)  so it is feasible to reach the venue using the tube, especially for those who are staying at the hotels along the Providencia and Las Condes line (See List).

However, delegates should be reminded that in the early business hours the underground or ‘Metro’ can be very crowded. You can take a Radio-Taxi (please remember this word) from the Hotel that can take you to the venue for as little as U$ 5 to U$10.  Reaching the Centro by bus is also very easy.

If you get lost ask for “Hotel Intercontinental”, and then “Av. Vitacura esquina Isidora Goyenechea”.
